Last night's win against the Red Sox was sweet and who knows, after many bad losses and quite a few stops and starts, maybe this team is finally going to get going. Anything's possible, right? Still, even after last night, the record stands at 24-30 after 54 games, which is exactly 1/3rd of the season.

To get to 95 wins, the Yankees will have to go 71-37, a winning percentage of .657. Know how many teams had a winning percentage like that through the first 54 games? 1...Boston.

To get to 91 wins, the Yankees will have to go 67-41, a winning percentage of .620. That bumps up the total teams who've played at that clip to 3; Boston, Cleveland and the Mets. The LAAngels come close too at .611.

Here's something else that I noticed. They've got 108 games left against 17 total teams but there's a significant number of games left against teams that at the beginning of the season, you would expect the Yankees to beat up on: 15 against Baltimore (.474), 14 against Toronto (.482) , 14 against Tampa Bay (.426) and 10 against Kansas City (.368). That's 53 games - and if the Yankees take all those series (a .667 winning %), they'll be at 59 wins over 107 games (.551). That would certainly make getting to the playoffs easier...now they just have to win the games.
