Would set up very well, could be dynasty in the making status.

I figure if Hughes is not involved then we will need to get rid of Jackson. I'd love to see how he would develop but outfielders come around much more often than ace type pitchers.
If I were Cash I'd offer
Jackson, Ian Kennedy, M.Cabrera, Igawa(towers had some weird fascination with him I heard. No better time to sell high I guess) and their choice of Aceves, Cervelli, Veras.
So that bring it to Peavy for Jackson, Kennedy, Melky who's not expected to hit much in SD. Igawa as an interesting throw in and their pick of an intriguing Pitcher in Aceves, a good defensive C in Cervelli or bullpen help in Veras. Towers has clearly bungled up the Peavy situation and I could see(I pray!) him taking that.

I still think it's a pipe dream. Just because they couldn't get the top prospect they wanted from the Braves doesn't mean he has to go to the Yankees. I mean if all it takes is a package centering around Ian Kennedy and Kei Igawa as some reporter suggested, all that does is increase the number of teams with the resources to make a trade. There isn't a team in the league that couldn't put together a package like that. So why the Yankees?

I agree. Though, the report I'm thinking mentioned it would include an OF and that would seeming be A-Jax. So, the package would really be based on A-Jax and Kennedy, which makes it a bit sweeter. But, yeah, I agree.

Austin Jackson is the main piece of the puzzle here. I think if we took Kennedy's age(23)/stats from AAA(69IP, 18Er, 17BB, 72K and a 2.35 ERA) I think he makes a very decent #2 in a trade.

I agree, Austin Jackson would have to be a part of any deal. The question is whether that would be enough. The Padres have been so picky about who and what they want in return for Peavy. They basically slammed the door on the Braves over one player, and I am under the impression that if the Padres liked Jackson as much or more than that guy, they would have come to the Yankees first.

I don't think Igawa would be a part of any deal. I'm pretty sure the Padres are desperately trying to unload payroll (heard something about the owner trying to pay for his divorce? Not sure how true that is...). I don't think they would take a wallet-eater like Igawa who can't even stay in the bigs for more than a month.

I could be wrong, though. This is probably the best discussion we've had on here in awhile. :)
