06/04: Yankees Bloggers League: Week Ten
Posted by: Patrick
This is my weekly recap of the performance of the YanksBlog.com teams in the Yankees Bloggers Fantasy Baseball League.
Last Week
After it was all said and done, James and Dave (Pride of the Yankees) ended up all square at 5. Dave took 4 out of 5 offensive categories and James took 4 out of 5 pitching categories. Offensively, Dave was led by Vladdy Guerrero who hit .423 with 2 home runs, 5 runs and 8 RBI. Brad Hawpe also hit .438. James was led by Manny Ramirez (4 runs, 1 home run, 2 RBI, .455 average) and Gary Matthews, Jr. (2 runs, 1 home run, 7 RBI, 2 stolen bases, .261 average). Neither pitching staff was particularly impressive with a 4.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP winning out. On Dave's side, Dan Haren, Dontrelle Willis and Jason Isringhausen had wins. His lone save came from Solomon Torres. Meanwhile, James' lone win came from Brad Penny, who chipped in 8 K's. Ted Lilly struck out 9. Valverde led the staff with 2 saves while Billy Wagner and Jenks each had 1.
Like James and Dave, I tied 5-5 with Joseph (River Ave. Blues). The categories were pretty mixed with me taking runs, home runs, stolen bases, saves and strikeouts and Joseph taking RBI, average, wins, ERA and WHIP. RBI were as close as it gets with Joseph topping me by 1 - 42 to 41. My offense was led by Dan Uggla (.385 AVG, 7 R, 3 HR, 7 RBI) while Joseph was led by Victor Martinez's 4 R, 4 HR, 11 RBI, .346 AVG performance. Scott Rolen hit .538, as well with David Ortiz (.412) and Aaron Hill (.409) hitting over .400. I had 1 win (Barry Zito) and 3 saves (2 for Mo, 1 for Dotel). Joseph had 3 wins (Harang, Bedard and James Shields) and 1 save (Jonathan Papelbon). Freddy Garcia pitched in 14 K's on my side.
Finally, Seamus lost to Ben (River Ave. Blues), 6-4. All 4 of Seamus' wins came on the offensive side with Ben sweeping pitching. Ben's O was led by Pudge Rodriguez, who hit .440 with 6 runs, 1 HR and 6 RBI. Seamus' offense was carried by Sheff, who scored 11 runs, hit 4 homers, drove in 9, stole 2 bases and hit .345. Eric Byrnes (8 R, 3 HR, 3 RBI, 1 SB, .400 AVG) also had a big week. Ben had 3 wins (Lackey, Sabathia, Chris Young) and 2 saves (Wickman). Seamus had 2 wins (Brandon Webb, Ervin Santana) and 0 saves. Santana came up with 12 K's.
